America Ranks Low in Concern About Global Warming,
According to Decision Analyst Study
Arlington, Texas—Americans are not as concerned about global warming
as people in most other industrialized nations, according to an international
study by Decision Analyst, a leading marketing research and analytical consulting
firm.
In its recent International Attitudes Survey 2010, Decision Analyst asked residents
in 11 leading nations their opinions on various political, social, and lifestyle
issues. One of the questions was “Do you believe global warming will change
your life negatively within the next 10 years?’’

Survey respondents in China and Brazil were most concerned about global warming,
with 83% of Chinese participants and 78% of Brazilian respondents saying they
believe global warming will have a negative impact. Concern was weakest in the
Netherlands, where only 24% of respondents were concerned about global warming,
and Russia, where only 30% of participants expected negative consequences.
Methodology
Decision Analyst’s International Attitudes Survey 2010 was conducted
online using its American Consumer Opinion® Online panel (www.acop.com),
which has more than 8 million members worldwide. The study results were based
on 5,553 participants, who responded to the survey between November 2009 and
March 2010. The survey was conducted among nationally representative samples
in Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, United States,
the Netherlands, Brazil, China, and Russia. The margin of sampling error in
most countries is less than 4 percentage points, plus or minus, at a 95-percent
confidence level.
