Only slightly more than half of IT professionals believe their
organizations computers and/or networks are safe from attack,
Decision Analyst Survey shows

Arlington, Texas—Only 58% of IT professionals are confident their organizations' computers and/or networks are safe from attacks, viruses, and worms, according to a recent study conducted by Decision Analyst, a leading marketing research and marketing consulting firm.

In a recent Technology Market Update: State of Technology Today survey of IT professionals from its Technology Advisory Board®, Decision Analyst asked how confident IT professionals were that their organizations' computers and/or networks at work were completely safe against security attacks, viruses, and worms. Only about one in ten (11%) stated they were "completely confident," while another 47% indicated they were "very confident."

Interestingly, more than six in ten of those who connect from a remote location believe their laptops/other remote devices are safe from attack.

While the recession is having more impact on lower income households, higher income households are not immune to the effects of the recession, as shown below.

The vast majority (86%) use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) when connecting remotely to the company; and of those, about two-thirds (68%) are confident their computers are safe.

Among those who use a Wi-Fi network when away from the office, only about one-third are “completely” or “very” confident that their computers are safe against security attacks.
