Almost Half Of Vacation Travelers
Will Stay With Friends And Relatives
ARLINGTON, TX Almost half of vacation travelers are planning to stay at
least part of their vacation with friends or relatives this summer, according
to a survey by American Consumer OpinionT Online (www.acop.com),
a worldwide panel of consumers who get paid to take surveys. About one out of
three will stay at a hotel on at least one occasion, while three out of ten
vacationers will use a motel. Smaller numbers, about one out of ten, report
they will stay at a bed and breakfast inn or camp in a state, national, or
private campground or RV camp.
"Both the effects of the recent recession and a desire to visit with family
and friends are likely at play in the large numbers of vacationers planning to
stay with friends and relatives," said Jerry W. Thomas, President/CEO of
Decision Analyst, Inc., which owns American Consumer Opinion Online.
Eight out of 10 Americans said they will take at least one vacation trip this
summer, according to the survey, while the remaining 22% of the respondents
either havent yet decided whether to take a vacation trip, or do not plan
to take any vacation trips this year.
Based on an Internet survey of 495 U.S. respondents balanced by gender, age and
geography, conducted between May 10 and May 17, 2002. Respondents were members
of the American Consumer Opinion Online panel, one of the largest
consumer panels in the world, which includes over 3.5 million consumers in over
150 countries. Consumers can sign up to join the panel in one of eight
languages: English, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, French, German,
Japanese or Chinese.
