42% Of Consumers Are Reported Being Close Or Very Close To Their Credit Card
Limit
ARLINGTON, Texas Among U.S. adults, 42% were "very close" or
"somewhat close" to their credit card limitsa percentage that
trended slowly higher during the past 12 months, according to a recent Internet
survey by Decision Analyst, Inc., one of America's leading marketing research
firms.
In the December Internet survey of 2,087 consumers, 21% of respondents said they
were "very close" to their credit card limit, while 21% said they
were "somewhat close."
"The percentages have risen slightly throughout 2000," said Jerry W.
Thomas, President/CEO of Decision Analyst, Inc. "With the economy
beginning to slow down, its likely that these percentages will rise
rapidly in 2001."
And who among us are most likely and least likely to be close to our credit card
limits? Women are more likely to be close to their credit card limits than men.
Older consumers (55+) and higher income consumers ($75,000+) are least likely
to be near their credit limits.
