Few Americans Worry About Job Loss
ARLINGTON, TexasWith the job market as tight as it's been in more than
three decades, American workers aren't very worried about losing their jobs,
according to an Internet survey by Decision Analyst, Inc., one of the nation's
leading marketing research firms.
In Decision Analyst's August economic survey of U.S. adults, 73.6% of a total of
1,918 respondents said they were not worried about the possibility of layoffs
or staff reductions.
"The number of Americans afraid of losing their jobs has remained quite low
for nearly three years," said Jerry W. Thomas, President and CEO of
Decision Analyst, Inc. "Despite occasional layoffs here and there, workers
aren't very worried. They know the labor market is tight. They feel that if
they should happen to lose their jobs, they can find other jobs fairly
quickly."
For more than 20 years, Decision Analyst, Inc. has provided marketing research
and marketing consulting to Fortune 500 companies. It also is a world leader in
Internet marketing research, with an Internet panel that has more than 1.5
million participants. The August Internet survey on job security has a margin
of error of plus or minus 2%.
