One Microwave Is No Longer Enough For Many Consumers
Arlington, Texas American consumers are declaring that one microwave is
not enough, according to the marketing research firm, Decision Analyst, Inc.
In the recently completed American Appliance Survey of 6,431 households,
Decision Analyst discovered that one out of every ten consumers has purchased a
second, and in some cases, a third microwave oven. "There appears to be a
growing movement among consumers to purchase additional appliances," says
Matt Michel, the senior researcher for the project, "and microwaves are
leading the trend."
Michel said that 7% of the households reported owning a second microwave and
another 4% owned three of the appliance.
What are the leading brands? General Electric has the most microwaves in place
in American homes, but Sharp and Panasonic are coming on strong. In fact, Sharp
has outsold G.E. over the past two years in the add-on and replacement market
according to Decision Analysts American Appliance Survey.
The American Appliance Survey is a detailed biannual report of appliance
purchasing habits, brand position, and preference.
Its American Appliance Survey has a margin of error of plus or minus one
percent at a 95% confidence level.
