Low-Salt/Low-Sodium Diet
Arlington, Texas Twenty-five percent of American households currently
have at least one adult on a low-salt or low-sodium diet, according to a recent
nationwide survey conducted by Decision Analyst, Inc., a leading national
marketing research firm.
In the survey, 19.3% of U.S. households had at least one adult female on a
low-sodium diet, and 14.4% of U.S. households had at least one adult male on a
low-sodium diet.
This survey of 8,451 consumers across the U.S. was conducted through Decision
Analysts American Consumer Opinion Online panel www.acop.com, a
large nationally representative group of consumers who are paid money to
participate in Internet surveys and to test products at home.
Among all adults, those 55 and older are most likely to be on low-sodium diets
(37.1% of 55+ households have at least one adult on a low-sodium diet).
Interestingly, low-sodium diets are most common among those with a high school
education or less, and among those who earn $30,000 per year or less. By census
region, the Northeast leads all regions in the incidence of low-salt or
low-sodium diets.
Decision Analyst, Inc. is a leading national marketing research company, and a
recognized leader in Internet survey technology.
