Some Hate Grocery Shopping
Arlington, Texas Almost 14% of the adult population in the United States
(13.8%) say that they "hate" shopping for groceries, according to a
national survey conducted via the Internet by Decision Analyst, Inc., a leading
national marketing research firm.
Women are more likely to report that they "hate" to shop for groceries
than men are. While 15.5% of the women answered that they "hate"
grocery shopping, only 10.5% of the men gave the same answer. The higher level
of female "hate" might be because they feel they "have to"
do the grocery shopping.
Interestingly, respondents 35 to 49 years old were most likely to say they
"hate" to shop for groceries (18.2%). This may be partly a result of
the time pressures and "children" pressures that consumers in this
age group experience. Respondents younger than 35 were least likely to
"hate" grocery shopping (7.8%). Among the 50 and over age group, the
"hate grocery shopping" level was 14.0%.
This survey of 506 consumers across the U.S. was conducted through Decision
Analysts
panel www.acop.com, a large nationally
representative group of consumers who get paid money to participate in Internet
surveys and to test products at home.
The margin of statistical error in this survey was plus or minus 3%.
